Gift giving has never been so gorgeous...

Summer is the season for many things, and many of these many things might be a celebration or two. And sometimes celebrations call for beautiful tasteful gifts to give to your loved ones who are doing all the celebrating. So whether it’s a wedding, an engagement or a birthday, bring a bit of vintage loveliness into someone’s life by giving the gift of inspired kitsch. Here are few ideas I’ve uncovered this week that will save you a bit of money on all the generous present buying…

The House of Fraser sale is always worth checking in with. They’ve got everything from chic homeware to designer handbags with some rather fabulous price cuts. Seriously, once you get sucked in there’s no going back. This week I’ve dug up a few beauties using this fantastic House of Fraser discount voucher – first up a couple of V&A items (that’s short for the Victoria & Albert Museum for anyone not in the know). These V&A Torches are reduced from £12 to £8.40, so why not match them with a V&A Trowel (was £10, now £7) and V&A Watering Can (was £35, now £24.50)?

And if your special someone is less of a garden bod and more of a bag lover, then this Fiorelli Shoulder Bag reduction should suffice – it was £49, but is now only £34.30.

These Joules Clothing voucher offers should be very much on your radar, especially if you love a bit of quirky goodness, or know someone who does. Otherwise you might be missing out on delights such as these – Welly Print Wellies reduced to £24.95 from £37.95, or, my personal favourite out of all of these week gift finds (hint hint…) this Women’s Puffin Jumper (was £69.95, now £44.95) – seriously, how could any NOT love this?

And good old Cath Kidston – you can always rely on Cath Kidston for a few gift ideas and you can always rely on me to find you a few Cath Kidston voucher codes that will fit the bill! This Vintage Rose Big Book of Buttons isn’t actually a book, but it does contain buttons. And it is currently only £5. And if you know a sewing goddess, get her something worthy of her skill, like this Trailing Floral Twin-Lidded Sewing Basket (try saying it quickly. Or don’t). Oh, and it’s been reduced from £42 to 28.

So, lots of lovely gift a-plenty. Much better than a boring old gift voucher, I think you’ll agree. Now, I’ll just sit here and patiently wait for my Puffin Jumper to arrive…

Summer dresses are summery...

I know I’ve done quite a few posts recently about clothes and shoes, but it is getting warmer after all and my mind always turns to new dresses in the hot weather. So today I’m going to write about new dresses. Hope that’s ok? Good. So I’ve sifted through the online sales and vigorously hunted down some voucher codes so you can get your vintage look dress for a little bit less this summer. Or for a lot less in some cases. And another thing – I made a bit of an effort this week to find something that will suit, whatever your size…

Spot Print Linen Shift Dress The price is £79.00.So, Precis Petite specialise in clothes that are suitable for women under 5”3, although that’s not to say that they might not be suitable for anyone else. This Precis Petite discount voucher saves you up to 70% off selected items, including this rather suave Spot Print Linen Shift Dress that’s been reduced from £129 to £79.

Mirror Teardrop Dress

I love Apricot. They always seem to have something that will fit the bill. And when the bill that needs to be fitted is ‘cheap summer dress’, then there’s endless choice. My particular favourite this week is this Mirror Teardrop Dress that been reduced from an already reasonable £25 to a mind-blowing £15. And you can take your pick from others using this Apricot discount code that might save you up to 65% off your lovely dress.

Scarlett & Jo Black and Pink Geometric Print TunicI don’t think Evans really needs an introduction – they are a great source of fashion for curvier ladies (I hate the term ‘plus-size’) and today is no exception. With this Evans voucher offer, you can get up to 50% off selected pieces, and my pick of the lot is this Scarlett & Jo Black and Pink Geometric Print Tunic. And even better, is was £40 but is now £20, just for you.

Duck Egg Beaded 60s Shift DressUnlike the last name, you might not have heard of Mint Velvet, but you’ll be missing out if you don’t take a little peek at their fabulous range. They stock the sort of thing you need for a summer wedding or party at the posher end of the scale. And this Duck Egg Beaded 60s Shift is just the ticket. It may be a slightly extravagant £149, but with this Mint Velvet voucher code, you can get free delivery. And let’s face it – it’s more than worth it, right? It’s gorgeous!

So hopefully you’ll find something amongst that lot that will more than fit your requirements. And if you don’t, well, you’re just not looking hard enough…

Pretty summer shoes just for you

It’s lovely vintagey shoes again this week, I hope you don’t mind. Of course you don’t! Because who wouldn’t enjoy browsing a few online shoe bargains? Especially ones as pretty as these. We may well be in the midst of summer, but that doesn’t mean you can bag a great price on a pair of sandals or peep toe shoes at this time of years – the sales aren’t all knee highs and Ugg boots you know. So here are a couple of footwear voucher codes I found that have some choice picks, whatever your budget…

First up here’s Daniel Footwear discount voucher that’s always worth a peek. They have up to 80% off selected shoes, including this lovely lot…

The Daniel Leather Zanze Women’s Wedge is reduced from £155 to a rather more pleasing to the purse £79.99. Add a bit height to your trip to the beach, or will also work on an evening out.

I think it might have been love at first for me and these Vivienne Westwood Black Lady Dragon Bow Anglomania Women’s Shoes, all the more so because they’ve been reduced from £120 to £72. Oh, and they come in pink too, if you need any more persuading.

And if you’d like some more detailing on your footwear, these Daniel Navy Comete Women’s Sling Back might fit the bill. Oh, and they’re now only £89, down from £179.

But for those of you on a slightly tighter budget, like myself, you may want to thank me in advance for these Brantano discount codes. Yes that’s ‘codes’ plural, because not only can you get 3 for the price of 2 or everything, but can also opt for an extra 10% off all sale items. And the prices are pretty darned good to start with. So here’s my favourite vintage-inspired Brantano footwear (I’ve picked out the sale stuff because, y’know, it’s cheaper)…

Diddy Wedge

I love this Orchard Diddy Wedge, mostly because they look really good, but also because they’ve been reduced from £26 to £13. And don’t forget to knock another £1.30 off that price with the Brantano voucher code.

Foxglove

And if you want to feel a bit more summery, then what better way is there than to buy some yellow shoes? That’s right, there is no better way, especially once you’ve clapped eyes on these Emilio Luca X Foxglove lovelies, reduced from £28 to £14.

Chorus Sing

And if you love a good quality Clarks shoe, then Brantano have these Clarks Chorus Sing shoes, reduced from £50 to £40.

So they you go – vintage-look summer shoes for every occasion that involves venturing outside. Who knows what I’ll find next week?

Time for some more homeware vintage bits and bobs...

It’s been a while since I’ve tried to tempt you with some vintage-looking homewares, so…. can you guess what I’m going to write about today? Think about brightening up your abode with some pretty things. And not just pretty to look at - pretty good value as well.

Spray Flowers Print Tea Set for 4First up, it’s everyone’s favourite kitsch-retailer-with-kudos. Yes, I’m talking Cath Kidston. It’s far too long since I’ve searched for some Cath Kidston deals, so today is your lucky day, because I’ve found not one, but three fabulous floral bargains. Ok, two floral bargains, and one not-so-floral bargain because you need a bit of variety, yes? If you’re more of an afternoon tea than a barbeque sort, then I’ve found everything you will need for a perfect tea time - with these Cath Kidston voucher codes you can pick up a Spray Flowers Print Tea Set for 4 reduced from £40 to £28. And don’t forget that all-important teapot – you can’t make a proper brew without it – this matching Spray Flowers one is reduced from £18 to £12.50.

And, yes, I did find something without flowers on whilst browsing the Cath Kidston site, believe it or not. Indulge your desire for some sixties kitchen chic with this Set of 4 Casserole Dishes – was £40, now £30.

And now time for some wall art, because it’s been far too long since I’ve featured vintage wall art and I REALLY love vintage wall art. B&Q might not be an obvious choice for such a thing, but you shouldn’t overlook it because I’ve found these two at a fabulous price – use this B&Q discount voucher to get this Carousel Canvas for £10 (was £13.98) or this Cupcake Metal Art for £7 (was £9.98). Quick note – this two are for collection only, so you can reserve them online but can’t have them delivered.

Duck Egg Megan Bedlinen CollectionRed Osaka Roman BlindGood old Dunelm Mill. Mainstream they might be, but delve a little deeper and you can uncover a few lovely vintage-inspired bits. With this Dunelm Mill shopping voucher you can get 20% off all Roman blinds, so brighten up your room with this Red Osaka Blind. And while you’re at it, you might want to get 20% off some new bedlinen too, maybe something like this Duck Egg Megan Bedlinen, perhaps?

You’ve really got no excuses not to buy a couple of bits and pieces now, have you? No. The beginning of the month is the very best time to indulge, so knock yourself out. And maybe next week I might be able to persuade you to buy another dress or two…
